Our History
From early exploration in the 1990s to a shovel-ready gold project today.
The Black Volta Gold Project Story
The Black Volta project initially started through early regional exploration by BHP in the 1990s. The Kunche ore deposit was first discovered in 1998 by Ashanti-IAMGold, setting the foundation for what would become one of Ghana's most promising gold developments.
Azumah Resources acquired the Project in 2006 and was listed on the ASX. Through systematic exploration, the company discovered the Bepkong deposit and later acquired the Julie deposit, building a substantial multi-deposit gold project.
Since Ibaera Capital's acquisition in March 2020, additional capital has been deployed for further drilling across the 3 main deposits and development activities to bring the project to shovel-ready status. The Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), mining license and environmental permits have all been completed and received.

Key Milestones
From early exploration to a fully permitted, shovel-ready gold project.
